Oncoplasty is a type of surgery that combines ways to treat cancer with ways to reconstruct and improve the look of the breast. After a mastectomy, level 2 oncoplasty is a type of breast reconstruction that can be done (surgery to remove the breast).
During a level 2 oncoplasty, a tissue expander is usually used to stretch the skin and make a pocket for an implant. A balloon-like device called a tissue expander is put under the skin and slowly filled with saline (saltwater) to stretch the skin and make room for an implant. This could take weeks or months, and you may have to go to the doctor’s office more than once to have the expander filled.
Once the skin has been stretched to the right size, the tissue expander is usually taken out and a permanent breast implant is put in its place during a second surgery. The implant can be filled with saline or silicone gel, depending on what the person wants and what the surgeon thinks is best.
Level 2 oncoplastic can help restore the breast’s shape and appearance after a mastectomy. It may also help a person feel better about themselves and improve their quality of life. It’s important to remember that breast reconstruction is a major surgery with risks like infection, bleeding, and scarring. Before making a decision, you should carefully think about the pros and cons of the surgery and talk about them with your healthcare team.
Breast oncoplasty level 2 is often done after a mastectomy to rebuild the breast (surgery to remove the breast). The goal of the surgery is to improve a person’s self-esteem and quality of life by fixing the shape and look of their breasts.
When 20-50% of the breast volume needs to be taken out, level 2 oncoplastic techniques are used.
Most of the time, a mastectomy is needed to treat breast cancer, and it may be suggested for people with advanced cancer or a high chance of getting it back. People with inflammatory breast cancer or Paget’s disease of the breast, which both affect the breast, may also be told to get a mastectomy.
Some people who have had a mastectomy decide to have breast reconstruction surgery to fix the shape and look of the breast. There are different ways to reconstruct the breasts, and the way that is used will depend on the person’s situation and the surgeon’s preferences. Level 2 oncoplasty is one way to think about for breast reconstruction.

Breast oncoplasty, which is also called “breast reconstruction after cancer surgery,” is a surgery that fixes the shape and look of the breast after a mastectomy or lumpectomy (surgical removal of a breast lump). The goal of breast oncoplasty is to make a breast that looks natural and is the same size as the other breast.
Breast oncoplasty could be good for your health in a number of ways, such as:
Improving body image and self-esteem: Losing a breast can be a traumatic event that can have a big effect on a person’s sense of self and body image. Breast reconstruction can help a person feel better about their body and restore the look of their breasts.
Improving physical comfort: Breast reconstruction can help restore the breast’s natural shape, which can make wearing clothes and doing physical activities more comfortable.
Reducing the need for prosthetics: Some people who have had a mastectomy or lumpectomy may choose to use a breast prosthesis (artificial breast) to help restore the look of the breast. With breast reconstruction, you may not need a prosthesis, which can be uncomfortable and needs to be replaced often.
Improving the quality of life: Breast reconstruction can help people who have had surgery for breast cancer feel more confident and sure of themselves. This can make their lives better overall and let them take part in activities and relationships more fully.
It’s important to remember that breast oncoplasty is a complicated surgery that isn’t right for everyone. To figure out if breast reconstruction is a good choice for you, you should talk to a qualified breast surgeon about the possible risks and benefits.
